Dear Patients 

After over 30 years of service here at the practice, I have decided that the time is now right for me to fully retire from General Practice on 30th June 2018.  

There have been many exciting changes in the practice and these are continuing to help us thrive going into the future. 

It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to have been able to treat you all over the years and to be part of the Castleford & Methley community.

NEWS ARTICLE: Improving Access


Improving access to general practice: evening and weekend appointments now available

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or at the weekends (on Saturday and Sunday). Appointments will take place at Trinity Medical Practice Wakefield and Pontefract General Infirmary. Talk to your practice receptionist to find out more or book an appointment.


By March 2019 everyone in England will benefit from access to general practice appointments in the evenings and weekends at a time that is most convenient to them. This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients. Further information is available at

appointment_1All of our Surgeries, both for doctors and for nurses, work on booked appointments.  For your convenience the majority of our appointments can be booked in advance, with some GP appointments reserved for dealing with ‘on the day’ urgent need.

If you find that you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer it to someone else.  We find it extremely frustrating (and it is a discourtesy to other patients) when patients waste the time of their doctors and nurses by choosing not to contact us when they are unable to attend as planned.

Seeing your Doctor

Patients are registered with the Practice rather than with an individual doctor.  However, when booking routine appointments, patients are given the flexibility to request to be seen by the practitioner of their choice.  We would advise patients that they may have to wait longer than normal to see the practitioner of their choice and that they will experience a wider choice of times if they are prepared to travel to other sites.

Under 5s

Our Health Visiting Team offers a service of advice and support for the parents of under-5s aimed primarily at the treatment of minor illnesses. If a Health Visitor feels that it is necessary for your child to see a doctor then they will arrange this for you as soon as possible. You can contact their office by phone on: 01977 465764

To Speak To A Doctor On The Telephone ("Telephone Appointments")

Many patients, particularly those who work or who have caring commitments, tell us that the most convenient way to consult with their doctor is by telephone so we offer a wide range of pre-bookable telephone appointments.  Whilst we cannot guarantee to call you at a precise time the great majority of calls are made within half an hour of the agreed time.  We request your help by making sure that you are in and available to answer the phone around the time agreed.

All phone calls, both to and from all of our Surgeries, are recorded for training purposes and are stored for monitoring if needed at a later date for crime prevention and to improve the quality of our services.

Our Reception Staff

Members of the reception team are available to help you to book appointments, to access our services and to advise you generally.  As with the majority of human interactions you will find that you will get the best out of them if you treat them with courtesy and respect rather than with hostility.
