Dr Hans R Bance

Dear Patients

After over 30 years of service here at the practice, I have decided that the time is now right for me to fully retire from General Practice on 30th June 2018.

There have been many exciting changes in the practice and these are continuing to help us thrive going into the future.

It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to have been able to treat you all over the years and to be part of the Castleford & Methley community.

Thank you.

I wish you all the very best.

Dr Hans R Bance

Improving access to general practice: evening and weekend appointments now available

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or at the weekends (on Saturday and Sunday). Appointments will take place at Trinity Medical Practice Wakefield and Pontefract General Infirmary. Talk to your practice receptionist to find out more or book an appointment.

By March 2019 everyone in England will benefit from access to general practice appointments in the evenings and weekends at a time that is most convenient to them. This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients. Further information is available at

We have changed our Telephone to a local rate number 01977 664141.

The practice has great pleasure in advising our patients that we now have a new local rate number; 01977 664141.  Please continue to listen to the operator instructions and select the relevant options that you require.

Now we have changed our number, please take a few moments to update your address book and mobile phones with our new contact details.  The 0844 number will remain active for several months, but if you choose to be connected rather than re-dialling, you will be charged the premium rate for making the call.

Our new telephone system has the facility for you to leave us a message if you are phoning to cancel an appointment.  Please follow the operator instructions, should you wish to contact us to cancel an appointment.

Pharmacies requesting repeat prescriptions on your behalf:

Practice Repeat Prescription Ordering Policy

The practice no longer accepts repeat prescription requests from pharmacies on behalf of patients. We are aware that the online pharmacy, ‘Pharmacy 2U’ is currently mailing Wakefield residents advising of the services that they can provide. Please note that our policy also applies to Pharmacy 2U and therefore if you choose to nominate Pharmacy 2U to dispense your medicines, you will still need to order your own prescription from the surgery.

You can order your prescription Online, by using your repeat order slip, by telephoning the prescription line or at reception.  Please allow 2 days before collection.

All pharmacies are still able to collect your repeat prescription on your behalf from the surgery once it has been processed and deliver your medicines to you if they offer these services.

Please be assured that the practice has not provided Pharmacy 2U with your details and that we are not affiliated to them in any way.
